Huntington Beach Girls Softball

Huntington Beach Girls Softball is proud to offer two different programs for our members to participate in during the Fall/Winter Season:
 

Fall Recreation is for those players who are looking to play softball in a non-competitive environment, hone their skills for the upcoming spring recreational season, or are looking to better their skills as they move into a new age division.  Fall Recreation will run approximately 10 weeks beginning in September and we will be fielding teams for girls who will be playing 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U ball in the spring, depending on available coaches and interested players.  There is typically 1-2 practices/week. 6U plays one game on Saturdays.  10U, 12U and 14U will play 2 games.  There are no weekday games in Fall. We play against our league and other OC leagues. Tournament play will be at coaches discretion and may result in additional fees per player.

Fall Select is generally considered an extension of the All-Star softball season.  This is a great environment for players to continue improving their skills in a competitive environment, but with a bit less pressure than All-Stars.   HBGS would like to field 1 to 2 teams per age division (10U, 12U, and 14U).  This competitive extension of ASA leagues run from September through November; teams may begin practicing on August 1, 2023.   Each team will play a series of doubleheader “friendlies” which are games against other teams throughout Orange County on Saturday or Sunday.  There are also two or three tournaments, depending on the age level, in September, October, and November.  Girls who will be invited to join the select teams will be notified by the coach or registration system.

HBGS also offers travel ball in Fall.  Tryouts are required - players who do not make the travel ball teams will be moved to rec or select teams.

Sign up for Fall Ball in the division your daughter will be in for Spring 2024 to help her prepare for the upcoming Spring season.  NOTE: All Stars MUST play in the division they will play in Spring 2024.   No exceptions!

6U/8U DIVISIONS: After you register for your division you will be asked if you prefer your player to play on a team that plays Saturday or Sunday games.  This is specific to REC.  We understand that many players play soccer in Fall and will try to accommodate games on days they can play.

Playing Other Sports This Fall?
If you are playing other sports along with softball this fall please email us to let us know so that we can ensure each team has enough players to accommodate game schedules.  Most teams will either play double headers or will travel during the fall season (some will do both).  There may also be an optional Fall tournament offered.  Please let us know any scheduling conflicts or any days that your player is not available to practice or participate in games.  Practices are generally 2 to 3 times per week with games on Saturdays.

Select tryouts will be offered after registration closes, those games are normally on Sundays and are more competitive.  Additional fees will apply once the team is formed.

The new age cutoff for Fall 2023 is August 31.  When you register your daughter in Fall the division you choose will be based on the birthdate ranges below:

14U eligible birthdates: 9/1/2008 - 8/31/2010
12U eligible birthdates: 9/1/2010 - 8/31/2012
10U eligible birthdates: 9/1/2012 - 8/31/2014
8U eligible birthdates: 9/1/2014 - 8/31/2016
6U eligible birthdates: 9/1/2016 - 8/31/2019

Practices start the 2nd week of August

First games are the weekend after Labor Day

Last games are the weekend before Thanksgiving
