The Spring Select program, is a 6-week competitive program that is intended to prepare our players to potentially participate in the All-Star program. The Spring Select program is NOT a requirement for All Stars and participation in the Spring Select program does not guarantee a spot on the All Star team.
The Spring Select program is in ADDITION to the Spring Season play and Select teams will play doubleheaders on Sundays against other competitive teams throughout the Orange County area. In addition, there will be one or two tournaments scheduled. There will be NO additional practices during the six week season, so the six Sundays will be all the extra time you will commit to during those six weeks. Players do not need to be present for every weekend, but they do need to give the coach notice when they will not be available.
Players must participate in 75% of all REC team practices and games to be eligible to participate in Select.
Similar to Fall Select, the Spring Select team will be "selected" by the chosen division panel which consists of Board Members, other division coaches and guest evaluators to ensure the best players are chosen to represent the league, not all players that show up to tryouts will be chosen to participate. There is also no guarantee for playing time or positions.
Costs: There will be an additional cost to participate in the Select program, $100 per player to cover additional umpire fees, uniform shirt, field, and tournament fees.
